My Bills Compare | Updated 2026
1. Overview
My Bills Compare (“we,” “us,” or “our”) protects your personal information when you use mybillscompare.com. This document outlines our data practices for UK businesses and site visitors.
ICO registration number: ZB738560
2. Data Collection
We gather specific details required to deliver commercial utility comparisons:
- Business Details: Company name, trading address, email, and telephone contacts.
- Utility Data: Supply numbers, current contract renewal dates, and energy consumption meters.
- Technical Logs: We do not collect browser or device information, do not store your IP address and do not use sessions. When you submit an enquiry, we record the date and time and a reference number with your details. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard technical request data, such as your IP address, to deliver the website securely.
3. Purpose of Processing
Your information is handled strictly for operational efficiency:
- Quotations: Generating accurate utility pricing comparisons across UK suppliers.
- Enquiry Handling: Using the details you submit to respond to your quote enquiry, contact you about your options and arrange your switch.
- Security: Preventing fraudulent activity and maintaining system safety.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell user data. We only share necessary records with licensed energy suppliers and network partners to execute your requested utility transfers.
5. Service Providers
We use the following service providers to handle your enquiry. Each receives only the details it needs to do its job:
- Airtable: Stores your enquiry record, including the details you enter in our quote form (such as your name, business name, phone, email, postcode, address, the service you are interested in, your current provider and your usage, meter type or spend), your consent, a reference number and the date and time of your enquiry.
- ClickSend: Sends a text message to your mobile confirming your enquiry. It receives your mobile number, your first name and the type of enquiry.
- Microsoft 365: Sends a confirmation email to you from our [email protected] mailbox, where a copy is kept. It receives your email address, your first name, the type of enquiry and your postcode.
- Telegram: Sends an alert about your enquiry to our team. It receives your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the type of enquiry, your business name (if given) and your reference number.
- Cal.com: If you choose to book a call using the link in our text or email, you enter your booking details on Cal.com directly.
- postcodes.io: Looks up the general area for your postcode. It receives your postcode only.
- Cloudflare: Hosts our website and passes your enquiry on to the services above.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, so your data may be processed outside the UK.
If you refer a complaint to the Energy Ombudsman, we will share the information needed to resolve it (your contact details, account details and complaint correspondence). The Energy Ombudsman handles this as an independent organisation under its own privacy policy.
6. Security & Retention
All data transmissions use advanced encryption standards. We store account logs for 6 years in line with regulatory compliance standards.
7. Your Data Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights over your personal information:
- Access: Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification: Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure: Ask us to delete your information where we no longer have a valid reason to keep it.
- Objection: Object to how we use your information, including at any time to direct marketing.
- Restriction: Ask us to limit how we use your information in certain circumstances.
- Portability: Ask for the information you gave us in a commonly used electronic format, where this applies.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 8. We will respond within one month.
